Neighbors helping neighbors is a huge part of what Cameron Commons is all about. Providing each other with “Short Term Assistance” is a wonderful way to get to know each other better and build our sense of community. We have a coordinator who matches volunteers (31 have volunteered thusfar) with those requesting assistance without charge. From folks living by themselves to members of busy families, we all could use some extra help from time to time. While some already use the Cameron Park email group for information and neighborly contact, others may wish to make requests in a more confidential manner through a coordinator.  Volunteering through the coordinator can also help prevent volunteer burn-out. Whatever your situation, please consider requesting to receive and  volunteering to offer short term assistance through Cameron Commons.

Would you like to volunteer to provide short term assistance to a neighbor in Cameron Park? Would you like to request simple short term assistance from a neighborhood volunteer free of charge? Please call our new Google phone numbers at 919-346-4992 (Marty Lamb) and 919-960-1496 (Marianne Wason).

Coronavirus Update

If you are concerned about going out into public places, we have volunteers ready and willing to run errands for you. We can shop for groceries, go to the drug store, or pick up meals at restaurants. Whatever you need, we’ll bring it to your home.

Request for help: When requesting short term assistance, please consider your health and the health of volunteers. If you have a respiratory illness, please stay home and wait until you are well before requesting non-essential short term assistance from a volunteer. If you are in need of medical assistance, contact your primary care provider. If you are ill and need a home delivery, please call a Cameron Commons coordinator to see if we can arrange to accommodate you. Keep hand sanitizer available at your door and ask people to use it. Take your temperature to find out if you have a fever.

Volunteers: When contacting a neighbor about offering short term assistance, please consider your health and the health of the neighbor. Wash your hands often with soap for 20 seconds; carry hand sanitizer with you and use it appropriately; greet people with a warm smile, not a touch. If you have a respiratory illness, please stay home. Please call the person requesting help, to find out if everyone is well in the household before you depart for a home visit.

As always, please wear a mask when out in public!

We are so grateful for our supportive neighbors, and efforts to keep us and the community safe!
