
G. Paul Carr
1936 – 2024
Paul was a proud native son of North Carolina, with deep roots in Duplin County, with a passion for faith, family, and service. His marching with MLK over Pettus Bridge in Birmingham, Ala. was an important memory for him He served as treasurer and fund raiser for our board for several years where his skills were valued.

Gordon Wilkinson Folger
1935 – 2024
A 65-year love affair ended on September 12th with the death of Gordon Folger. During that lifetime she crafted a family and an inspiring career helping women. She served on our organization’s first steering committee, where her positivity and encouragement of others led to organizational growth and our mutual trust in each other.

Ann Clark Howe
1924 – 2024
Ann was an accomplished educator, author, and painter. She led a full life with her family and had a love for nature and travel. Ann became a painter and a member of Cary Gallery of Artists. She served first as secretary and later as chair of the education committee of our organization, and would often offer our social work students tours of her home with its excellent adaptations for aging in place.

Charles Davis Korte
1943 – 2026
Chuck believed love was best expressed through his words and actions – listening carefully, encouraging generously, and offering his gifts freely for the good of others. In his career at NCSU he created OLLI as a highlight, and in his private life he loved family fiercely and faithfully, had a strong faith, and was nourished by and shared the gift of music with others.
